SNIP>>>I have a multi-head electronics set up. I have two Northstar 6100's
and I want one of them to be able to rotate horizontally ~45 degrees.
When I am at the wheel, I want it facing the pilot, when my
son/daughter is at the wheel I would like to spin the unit toward me
occasionally to see whats going on. Ideally it would positively lock
at both ends. any suggestions? From: "Kirwood Dirby"
We wanted the same so on both the radar and Garmin 2010 at the lower helm we
drilled a hole in the center of the stand, covered the bottom of the stand
with sticky-back felt and fastened it down with one short lag bolt in that new
hole with a very large washer. By occasionally tightening the lag bolt it will
hold at any horizontal angle. Obviously this requires a flat mounting surface.
This setup is a wonderful safety feature. As an example, in fog the navigator
can watch the radar screen while the helmsmen watches ahead. Happy New Year!
