T&T: auto pilot stopped working

I have a 41 foot DeFever 1983 single screw trawler displacing about 36,000  
lbs.  My old (I'm not sure what year) auto helm 6000 has stopped  working.  The 
control units seem to work but the hydraulic pump does not  move.  Does 
anyone have the Technical support number for auto helm or ray  marine?  I called 
them a few years ago and they were very helpful.  I  have been thinking of 
replacing this older unit with a new one since it does not  track well in any type 
of following sea.  Any suggestions?  Do  the new ones with rate gyro really 
work better?  I hate to spend money on  fixing old electronics.  We are in 
Beaufort SC at Lady's Island  Marina.
