T&T: Novice Diesel Questions

Simple questions, if anyone would care to comment:
(Much will probably be self explanatory, but I'd rather have a heads up from
experienced mariners anyway.)

1. If I drain off fluid from my Racors to check for any sediment or water will
I likely need to do any bleeding of the system?

2. When I change the filter element can I just fill the Racor unit with diesel
and avoid having to bleed?

3. What is a good source for filter elements and other marine diesel parts?

3. Any maintenance tips, specific to Perkins 6.354s or diesels in general.
