T&T: Anchoring and anchor watch

This has been an interesting thread.
I use my chartplotter to mark my anchorage locations. I typically turn on the
tracking and monitor it for a while. I sometimes turn on the radar and "ping"
nearby objects and/or boats.
But my all time favorite is simply to use a hand bearing compass and take a
couple of bearings off conspicuous objects on the shoreline. I write the
bearings down in the logbook or on the whiteboard I keep up in the wheelhouse
(you have a whiteboard, don't you?). I can compare the bearings I take later
in the day and before I go to bed. This also makes Cindy, the anchor alarm,
happy. Simple is good.
