The current Furuno NavNet system has the same sort of thing. On our
model you can define the border of up to two guard zones using the
cursor and then program them to sound an alarm if something enters a
zone or if you leave it. But like you we don't use this as it requires
leaving the radar on all night. The plotter side of the NavNet has an
alarm function where you define the diameter of a circle around your
boat and the alarm will sound if the boat moves outside this circle.
