T&T: Anchoring and anchor watch

Elliott, I've been following this thread but don't understand why so many
feel a need to use the anchor's position instead of the boat's position when
anchored. When I anchor, I typically find the boat tending downwind or
downcurrent, whichever is stronger. The boat may be 200-300' from the
anchor. I want the anchor alarm to sound when I drift away from the
original anchored position a selected number of feet. I don't care about
how far I am from the anchor. What am I missing?
