Was browsing around Digital Antenna's site this morning and found a couple
of interesting things.

They have a line of antennas specifically for AIS:
http://www.digitalantenna.com/prods/aisantennas.html I remembered the
conversation we had awhile back about someone having reception problems with
a VHF antenna hooked to an AIS receiver. These might be worth looking into.
Their comment: "In conjunction with the USCG Automatic Identification System
(AIS) requirements for commercial vessels, Digital Antenna created a series
of 4' AIS antennas that meet the exacting AIS frequency requirements.
Designed with a low 1.5:1.0 SWR ratio from 159-162 MHz, Digital Antenna's
4.5 dB gain AIS antennas offer unsurpassed durability and performance
compatible with all AIS transponders."

Also, for those of you looking for an external antenna for XM radio, they
have one: http://www.digitalantenna.com/prods/xmantennas.html
Terk used to make one, but had quit making them as best as I know... they
were hard to find. I found one at Amazon.com, but I think it was the last
one!
