Marin,

Commercial vessels with a COI for carrying passengers have USCG fire rating
requirements for the fuel system.

Recreational vessels however have relatively few mandatory USCG rules (but there
are some), but the insurance companies then sometimes require you to meet ABYC
"recommendations" to continue coverage.

At this point, we're getting into a gray area, because it depends on what your
surveyor lists as deficiencies on his write up, and how your carrier reacts to
that.

I have no first hand experience with an insurance carrier getting into this
particular subject area. I'll be interested to hear what listees other have
experienced first hand with this issue.

Kevin
