T&T: ABYC: fuel filter fire rating

marine surveyor. It seems that an obscure reference in the ABYC
Standards mandates that all fuel filters used on diesel engines
withstand a heat requirement if they are mounted in the engine
compartment.

This has come up before on this list and I seem to recall that this
requirement applies to boats being operated commercially, not basic
recreational boats.  However I'm not positive on this so perhaps someone
like Kevin Redden who is very familiar with these sorts of requirements
can re-post his knowledge on the subject.
