T&T: Aere Fenders musings

I took a look at these fenders on their website and i am amazed at the
pricing.  Why does everything good for a boat have to cost so much.  They
must have determined that lower volume and higher pricing is in their best
interest.  I wonder if they ever analyzed how much more volume they could
get if they competed with Taylor and the other solid fender manufacturers
for the high volume market.  However I cannot imagine that other
manufacturers couldn't make them of the same quality and undercut the
pricing.

seems like there ought to be a way to make your own fenders that do the same
thing at a fraction of the cost.  Paying that amount just grates on me and
feels exploitative... a take it or leave it proposition.
