I have tried most makes of DC-DC computer power supplies, including one
custom made by a HAM.
IMO, the best are made by Lind, and you can buy direct. They do cost a few
dollars more, but they are robust and run cool. Much cooler, in fact, than the
AC brick that came with the laptop, and we don't need to run the inverter any
 more. _http://www.lindelectronics.com/_ (http://www.lindelectronics.com/)

No connection.

>I have wondered if there is a power converter available that
would step the boat's 12v power up to the 22v dc needed by the computer
directly avoiding the necessity to turn on the house inverter. Not a big
deal, but this would also be useful under some other circumstances such as
with a car or other 12v source.
