I found power adapters for all kinds of PC's ( 12VDC to Computer ), which
replace the standard 120VAC to Computer power, in line adapter on the web..
Google on Computer Power Adapters... There plug output is std. 4 wire to
single plug, 2 Batt. 2 for Batt Charger... I use 2 of these, permaintly
mounted, 1 at lower helm & 1 at the upper... I mounted a 7 pin Cannon
receptacle at the upper & an identical 7 pin Connector at the lower. Then I
took a standard Serial Cable, using the 3 pins, corresponding to the NEMA pins
& cut the power adapter cable, (4 pins) , routing the 7 wires into a 7 Pin
Cannon Plug.... So that my made up cable has 2 ends coming from the plug, 3
wires to the serial plug & 4 wires to the computer power plug.. This allows me
to move the laptop from the upper to the lower helm, with NEMA in/out &
Computer Power At either location..

The receptacle at both the upper & lower are wired, 4 wires to a power adapter
& 3 wires for NEMA thru a double pole switch, so that NEMA input/output can go
to the A/P or the plotters/GPS.... Ken, MACH V
