T&T: ActiveCaptain news...

ActiveCaptain has had an incredible three weeks:

- Over 1,000 registered captains
- Over 13,000 changes made (position, prices, etc)
- Many, many reviews - look for the stars in the list

At noon today, a new capability was added: anchorages. ActiveCaptain will
store, retrieve, and allow you to review and rate anchorages visually on
maps and satellite images. Although there are other lists of anchorages
available, this database creates a standard way to store anchorage
information and view it while exploring an area of interest.

We're not announcing this anchorage capability until early next week. As
I've done before, I'm writing about it here since so many T&T listees have
added so much information already. There will be an emailing to all
registered captains tonight.

To add an anchorage, click on "Add a Marker" on the top blue band. That is
the mechanism for adding a marina or anchorage. Follow the directions from
there.

There aren't many anchorages in the database right now. I could really use
help with creating good anchorage data. Please consider adding the
anchorages you are familiar with or ones in your home area.

ActiveCaptain is free. There is no advertising. It's designed to be a way
to share information. It's still very early in its life and there are many
new capabilities coming soon (store locations, towing assistance, inlets,
danger areas, notice-to-mariners integration, etc). Please help make it a
resource we all can use.
