> In 2000 I've installed three pre-lubers in my new 46' boat.

I have 2 cummins 450 C's and a 12.5 westerbeke genset, all on real
pre-lubers.
I opted for the "turbo model" which also "post lubes", that is, continues oil
pressure to my turbos after the engines shup down to pull off some extra
turbo shaft heat and prevent cooking the oil on the turbo shaft. My reasoning at
the time was, that I would not be using the engines every day, and I would like
to be assured that the engines had oil in the wear points, prior to hitting
the starter.

I cost me about $1000 per set up.
I also use it to do my oil changes. It pumps oil out, and pumps my oil in.

I turn on the key, the per lubers start, they build up oil pressure, and this
shuts off the engine low oil pressure alarm.
When there is oil pressure I engage the starter to the engine.
The pre lubers are set to run for 45 seconds on start up, and 40 seconds
after shut down, (adjustable).
When I use the starter moter, I already have oil pressure in the engine.

Photos of the set up are at:

We now have just over 1000 hours on the engines, and 15,000 miles on the
boat.
