Oil's still cheap and I've never had a mechanic or anyone else tell me
that fresh oil is bad for an engine. So I change every 3000 miles in a
vehicle and 100 hours in our boat. I don't need a math degree to figure
that out...:-)
Besides, the faster we use up the dinosaur oil the faster people will
come up with a more environmentally viable alternative. Man never does
anything hard until he's forced to by the threat of starvation, pain,
death, or extreme inconvenience (like having to walk to the mailbox
instead of drive). So the sooner we create a crisis by using up all the
oil, the sooner we'll get off our collective asses and figure out an
alternative.
