Your friend has failed to avail himself of the cost savings program offered
by Fawcett. All you do is register and you then receive significant
discounts from marked prices. The man is plumbing is a former plumber and
can sort out any connection dilemma.
In the past, their prices for register customers were always lower than
West. They do counter-shop West, so if West keeps raising their prices
.....
They give the quality and service of Tiffany - not the prices. I'm just a
satisfied former local customer. They are not receptive to returns older
than 30 days.

| Anyone who shops at Fawcetts knows that customers in
| that store are NOT there due to low prices. I have
| shopped at Fawcetts a number of times, and my friend
| who lives in Annapolis calls it "the Tiffany's of
| marine stores". A hugely sucessful store, mind you.
| Another indication that marine shoppers aren't
| primarily price conscious.

Funny how personal experience can change perceptions. A few years ago
Fawcetts sent me a catalogue which I kinda perused but thought they didn't have
much compared to WM and Boat US or Thomas Hardware (More on them later). I'm a
midwesterner so had no experience with Fawcetts other than that catalogue.
If your a sailor, Thomas Hardware in Grosse Pointe MI (Detroit) is where you
go when you die. I was in there quite a few years ago and a high end lady
(complete with spectator shoes) came in and asked the counterman with an
imperial stare for the 2 winches her husband had ordered. He pointed to the floor
where they were laying and asked the lady how she was going to pay for the
$3000.00 worth of winches. She said by check and wrote it out gave it to the
counterman and continued standing at the counter. The counterman asked her was
there something else. She said yes she wanted someone to carry them out to
her car. To which the counterman replied " You can handle them yourself. They
are quite light, thats why they cost so much and promptly turned away.
