T&T: west marine, discounts & catalogs

I have to say that these endless discussions concerning West Marine don't
seem to go anywhere, rant and rave as much as you will. 

I have found them convenient, and there when no other store is. On top of
which I find they will match anyone else's retail price including Defender,
and even internet prices with a little persuasion. Also you do get your
reward certificates which = about 5%, and specials - I have $30 worth of
those sitting on my desk right now most from mailings received, not rewards.
So they could be cheaper than anyone else!!

Their catalog is also informative and a useful resource and free - I keep
one on the boat and one at home. However I have yet to see one with a
hardcover as John on Seahorse suggests!! Very funny - lousy mouse pad you'll
get carpal tunnel.
