T&T: Converting my Running/Anchor Lights to LED...can it be done cheaply?

I can see an advantage of replacing the anchor light with LED, but what is 
the advantage of replacing the running lights? Of course this presuming that 
you use the running lights predominantly when running, meaning the engine 
and alternator are indirectly lighting the lights.
