T&T: Channel 5 to Cape Sable

Vince,
We took that route a week ago with our GB49 which draws about 5 1/2
ft. The water is skinny but we never bumped even though it was low
tide. We found that we were getting misleading depth sounder
readings, most likely due to the grassy bottom but I believe we had at
least 6 ft all the way. I did have to stop and reverse the engines
once to get weeds off the props.
Crab pot density is very high north of the Channel 5 bridge and
extending for several miles beyond that. I would not attempt it at
night.
The route north from Marathon has deeper water of course, and fewer
crab pots. We've made that passage at night with no problems.
