We have purchased a wonderful 46 Defever Pilot House. We are having good luck
with upkeep and repairs, but have an issue with the starboard pilothouse door.
The portside door is not a problem regardless of which way the boat is moored.
We are on the waiting list for canvas with will probably take care of it.
That could take a few months to achieve and we are in the Pac NW and are
experiencing high winds and rain that will continue for several months. The
outside of the door is fiberglass, the inside teak. It has a closed cell seal
which the door closes on which keeps the water on the outside. The door
doesn't close flush on the exterior, it is recessed which means water gets to
the bottom of the door. Problem is-the water sits on this shelf and is sucked
up the interior wood. Is there a product we can use to cover the door that
will not make a mess of the exterior when time to remove or are type of
weather stripping that would work better?
