T&T: Chart Accuracy

Several years ago a space shuttle mission was
almost entirely used up to perform an "artificial
aperture RADAR" mapping of 80% of the surface of
the earth.
This mapping was said to result in an accuracy of
less than 1 meter of error.

Why we can't get our nautical charts updated to
this accuracy has nothing to do with gathering
data points. It has to do with something else.
 Don't ask me why.
