Thanks to all who have been advising me on this... today I dropped in on the
boat and tried to turn the 3208 starboard engine. I found that I didn't have
a rachet large enough... requires a 1and 1/2 inch (38mm in Japan). I did have
a box wrench that size and applying pressure was able to rotate the crankshaft
and felt resistance when the cylinders started to compress... got beyond that
and felt more reistance and didn't want to apply more force with a box wrench
per advice from the list. I was going to try the port engine, but it has a
pully extension bolted on it that drives a Jabsco bilge pump. I didn't have
time to remove it. I will obtain a proper rachet and try again.
I also tried turning the Onan with a small ratchet, but couldn't budge it... I
think the handle was too short. Next time I will take an extension bar that
will fit over the handle for more leverage.
I feel that I want to prelube the engines or at least throw some oil into the
valve covers... what do you think?
