on the valve cover connected by a hose to the air filter. Is this
normal? If not, what is the cure?
The cure is to re-engine the boat :-) The breather pipe is there to
prevent pressure buildup under the valve cover and to prevent oily air
from escaping the engine and gradually making a mess in the engine room.
It is normal that this air have a fine mist of oil in it, some of which
will end up on the foam filter.
