       Look at the contract closely.  It all depends on when the lead was generated.  I think it is very common for leads that were discussed during the active period of the contract, they are actually good for a year AFTER the contract expires.  It sounds like in your case the lead came after the contract was terminated and therefore you owe the broker nothing.  I think that is the way I remember it reading.
