T&T: backless wave

A backless wave, is basically a high, steep peaked wave, usually breaking, and
caused by current against wind. You will only find these in extreme
condtions. A similar condition can occur on a breaking bar, with high waves
comming in the entrance, against an out going current. Picture a wave where
you crest the top and immediately fall into the tough, rather than the usual
longer slope after a breaking face.

The chance of your being in these conditions are very remote. The times I
have been in extremely heavy seas, I have run off. In Salvation you might
consider a series drogue for that type of condition--if you are considering
circumnavigation.
