A couple of years ago there was a big discussion about digital clocks that
were not dependent on the frequency of the generator or inverter to keep
accurate time. About a month ago I bought a Emerson SmartSet clock radio at
Target for under $20. This series of clock radios uses a 5 year lithium
battery and a computer chip to calculate the correct time. It is not
dependent on the frequency to show the correct time. The battery operates
the clock and the alarm and the display and radio are 115 volt AC.

The clock keeps perfect time and is not bothered by switching to a Freedom
2500 or the generator. If you change the default time zone or reset the
clock to a different time the device retains this information in the event
of a power outage. These radios are also available through amazon.com.
