CORRECTION
Yesterday I posted:
"...If a 40,000 lb boat gets moving/swinging at 1 knot and is brought to a

That's WRONG!
The correct answer is 703 lbs.
(And a good thing,too:I was worried my chain would snap at my next swing on
anchor.)
I neglected to make some necessary unit conversions from weight to mass and
from nautical miles per hour to feet per second. The correct formula is:
F=MA=(W/g)(V/T).
My excuses include (a) senility, (b) daughter getting ready to go to a Dave
Matthews Band benefit concert crying hysterically, (c) Yorkie bugging me for a
walk (this is a variation of the ever popular "My dog ate my homework),(d)
wifde bugging me to uncover the pool,(e) senility...of did I use that
already???
