Yes it was.  But most of these involve "salties" that are not rigged like
the lakers are.
CSL, Algoma, Upper Lakes shipping  etc. have true laker designs. Not so with
the ocean going foreign ships designed for use in open oceans.

There have been several such allisions with ships striking bridges and even
one case of a bridge striking a ship but human error played a major role in
every case.  You never hear the number of times a ship had to use their sten
anchor and avoided an incident.  Non incidents are not reported.  I think
its only in aviation that close calls get reported.
