We spent time in late 1992 at the Maremares marina in Puerto La
Cruz. One morning we awoke to find a medium sized cabin cruiser
docked next to us. The "crew" were all in fatigues and combat boots
and carried rifles. Turned out to be Hugo Chavez. He was then an
army general and was a pleasant slip neighbor. For the few days he
was there we had great security for our boat.

You just never know who you will meet cruising.
