I have found leaving Cape May at mid tide rising (3 hr after low) gives me a
1 kt push at the beginning and later a 2.5 kt push in the upper Delaware Bay
all the way to Chesapeake City on the C&D Canal. If the day is still early,
it makes it a tough decision to stop a C City. There is nothing finer than
having a 7.5 kt boat flying along at 10 kts for 3 or 4 hours. It's like a
33% drop in fuel prices.
