My Fiance works at a yacht service company and this radar question was nagging me. My assumption as stated in another post was that all these manufacturers that are popping up with radar offerings were probably subbing out the work. Well I asked the guy that runs the place and he said that the Icoms are being made by JRC and that the Northstars are being made by Koden. He wasn''t sure about Garmin but I'd be willin' to bet they sub itout also.. Just a little FYI for whoever was asking.

If VNS 6.5 is wired properly to its companion program (Tides And Currents)
on your system, then you can do the following to plan Tides and Currents on
future days.
In VNS right click on the chart you are viewing and select either "Display
Tide Bars" or "Display Current Arrows". Adjust the view on the chart so that
you see the area of interest. Sometimes zooming way out helps. Find a Tide
Bar (looks like vertical ruler) or Current Arrow (red, sometimes very big
for strong current, or a little red dot for slack curent). Right click on
either the Bar or Arrow and select the option that will allow you to view it
in the other program, Tides And Currents.
In T&C you'll see sinusoidal curves representing the tide or current for the
day. You can advance through the days to find the date of interest.
