'Lo All,
The Celestial has 1/4' plate glass. However, if I were concerned
about it being strong enough, I would check into the feasibility of
installing glass that has the new hurricane-rated plastic film.
That is not to say that the glass can't break, but the film is
supposed to hold it together.
Just a thought.....I never checked it out with the manufacturer's
literature or tech support.
Also, films, such as the 3M automotive film would work, possibly to a
lesser degree than the hurricane rated glass, but better than plain
glass. The 3M film (and others) can be beaten with a baseball bat and
not shatter. Again, it holds the glass together. An additional
feature is that, if desired, it can be tinted to reduce heat and light.
Take care and be safe.
