T&T: 25ga flares

wondering if anyone has any experience or information on  the supposed ability to use/fire 12 ga shotgun shells in the 25 ga metal flare pistols  with the accompanying metal 12 ga adaptor sleeve. would reguire modification to sleeve as end needs diameter enlarged slightly to accept the longer shotgun cartridge, but had heard it has been done successfully. thanks.    jim
