I used Semco for a number of years on the teak steps 6" x 24" from the swim
step to the aft deck of our Cal 46. What I used was fairly heavilly
pigmented, and did look OK on the steps--I had to redo them about every 6
months, because they had heavy daily use, including two labrador retrievers.
I did not like the look for railings--and used Cetol, which was fine for the
PNW, but when I got to the tropics, the salt crystals and UV began to
detiorrate the Cetol, and eventually I went back to Varnish for the toe
railings and hand rails--plus the Semco for the steps.
No teak on the current boats!
