I apologize to Kevin about my disparagement of Staten Island. It's the
borough that don't get no respect. Most New Yorkers won't admit that it is even part
of New York City. They think it belongs to New Jersey. It votes Republican
too. When I first moved there to be close to my future wife, I thought I had
never left Indiana. Cows grazed in fields along the roads. Some houses had
privies instead of plumbing. Every morning I spent a full nickel to take the Staten
Island ferry to my job in Gotham. After a day in the overheated cauldron of
Manhattan it was a relief to come home to my bucolic rural paradise and watch
the cows chew their cuds.

Incidentally, Great Kills is the best natural small boat harbor in the entire
New York area.

Sorry again Kevin.
