T&T: The Missing Command

Hey Garrett,

I find that in mapsource you can easily move a route waypoint by simply
using the cursor "Arrow" Selection tool... Move the arrow over the route and
left click... the route turns yellow... then move the arrow over the route
waypoint you wish to move and left click... the arrow cursor will change
having the waypoint selection tool flag appear just underneath it... you can
then move the waypoint by moving the arrow/flag to the new location and then
left clicking...

This method works for route points within the route... the start and end
point will not move in this fashion... but what I do is extend the route by
adding a new route waypoint and then remove the original route waypoint...
To extend a routes start or end point you must first selection the route
itself... left clicking on it... turns yellow... then left click on the
start or end point and the arrow tools changes having the route selection
tool just underneath it... this basically places you back in route planning
mode and you can add one or a dozen points to the start or end of the
route... you hit the ESC key when you are done, to exit this mode...

If you were just wanting to move the end or start point you would of added
one new point... you can then go back and remove the original start/end
point... the easiest way I have found to remove a route waypoint is to be
sure the route is not "selected" it will be purple in color... then with the
arrow selection tool right click the point you wish to remove... a menu pops
up and one of the items you can select is "Remove Waypoint from Route"...
select it and click and the point is gone.

I also found you can easily add new points to a route by using the arrow
selection tool left clicking on the route... it turns yellow... then with
the arrow move it over the route segment to the point you wish to add a new
point... once on the route you will notice that a new point appears... a
small black box... left click when this happens.. the arrow selection tool
then changes slightly by having the waypoint tool Flag appear beneath it...
you can then drag the new point to the exact location you want it to be and
left click... new point in place.

Also, be sure to zoom into the chart at a very close setting... I typically
use 0.2 miles or closer depending on how fine of an adjustment I want to
make.

Hope this helps... :)

Subject: T&T: The Missing Command

I just noticed that I forgot to insert the all-important command for moving
route waypoints in Mapsource. Once the menu opens per the original
instructions, select "Replace Route Section". That action then permits the
waypoint to be dragged to a new position. However, I stil haven't figured
out how to move the route's start and end waypoints.
