T&T: Problem with stop engine button at the helm

My solenoid failed and when tested it's resistance to ground was much too
high. For the hell of it I disassembled it and unwound the whole coil onto a
coffee can. The bitter end was inserted into a small hole it the armature
base. The connection was corroded so I cleaned it up, built a gadget that
would rotate it slowly and rewound the coil. That was three years ago and it
is still working just fine. How about that?
