T&T: Bulk Food Items in Galley

I don't feel that anyone who eats at restraunts only should attempt the
inland passage to Alaska--or perhaps any significant voyage in a small boat
where they cannot marina hop!

I was thinking that each port was less than a couple of weeks apart or even
a month a part and that was plenty of time to live off "normal" grocery
store portions of food--not wholesale quanities of 30 lbs of anything.

I am married to a good Southern Girl, who is one of the best cooks in the
world-We always had fresh cakes, pies, homemade bread and cookies in the
works or just made when we were in anchorages--and gave some to anchored
fisherman or loggers who we met. In return we were invited to very good
meals on board their vessels or in the logging camps. I wonder if you have
been to a modern logging Camp?--the "vittles" there are positatively
outstanding--not moose meat by any standards.

In any case, it is always a good experience to try and see how others
live--and partake of their food--part of the adventure. Living off the
local economy can be turely a great adventure and rewarding.
