'Lo All,

A common failure point in most Icom radios is the little (?lithium?)
button battery. Different stages of battery failure indicate
different maladies, so it is quite hard to troubleshoot. One shop
wanted to change out the main IC, another said the whole radio had
salt corrosion and was beyond repair. The old head said to change the
battery - and he was right. He said it is a common problem. The radio
is still in the Celestial and works fine.

Take care and be safe.
