T&T: Windless voltage drop?

Scott,

Check the wiring diagram in your Nordhavn 40 owner's manual. If your Nordhavn is wired like mine, there's a
dedicated battery forward to power the thruster and windlass, and it sounds as if that battery is what the problem
might be. My N47 uses a Xantrex "Echo Charger" to charge the thruster/windlass battery, and the PAE has found
that in many cases the Echo Chargers have not done the job reliably. In fact, PAE is changing mine (I have two)
under warranty, replacing them with another component--I believe a relay of some sort. When I experienced low
voltage on the windlass/thruster battery this summer, my temporary fix was to parallel the thruster/windlass bank
with the house bank--an easy job because all I had to do was open an existing switch located near the thruster
 master breaker.

On issues like this, PAE is a good resource. Call the N40 project manager and ask for help. I believe Philippa
Morrow is still the PM for the N40II.
