Sheesh, Doug, it's only the first week in October. Even above the Artic
Circle a hard freeze is still a few wooks off. :)

To answer your quesion... To winterize your holding tank, flush it out
VERY thoroughly with plenty of clean water. To do that, put a few
gallons of water into the tank via the deck pumpout fitting--'cuz that
sends the water into the tank at the bottom to stir up any sludge...pump
that out. Repeat...repeat...till you're only pumping out clean water.
Then, if you have an overboard discharge pump, put a few more gallons of
water into the tank and run the pump to rinse it out,

Follow with non-toxic potable "marine/rv" antifreeze according to
directions.

Yesm that will flush out and then kill any remaining K.O. but it doesn't
matter 'cuz the bacteria in K.O. can't survive an extended hard freeze
anyway.

Next spring you're gonna flush ALL the antifreeze out of the system and
restart K.O. in a nice clean tank.
