Greetings,
Thanks to all that have replied!! For the suggestions of the lift pump
lever cam. I did check the position as it is mentioned in the original Lehman
manual.

SNIP>> I would very much doubt you've done anything to damage the injector
pump.
Me either. It's the "lift" pump I belive is bad.

I agree that an electric pump is in order (how easy this would be!) and had
already planned on building a polisher. I also agree that the primary filters
should be replaced with the spin-on replacement.

There is a short steel line that runs between the discharge side of the lift
pump, to a "fuel hose" that bypasses the primatry filters. I disconnected the
hose to see if I could manually pump fuel at least that far, and I cannot. So
I can't manually pump the fuel even 12 inches above the pump. I am going to
order another lift pump from Smith's today. I need a spare anyway.
Thanks,
Ken

lever?

Regarding your bleeding problem, are you sure you're getting the full
up-stroke on the lift pump? Depending on where the engine stopped you may
have very little pumping action with the lever. Try giving the engine a quick
hit with the starter to put the pump lever on a different part of the cam and
see if you get a full pump stroke. You should get a bit of frothy pink
bubbles as the air is bled out of the system. When the air is gone you'll
just get fuel.

I would very much doubt you've done anything to damage the injector pump.
