We certainly do not spend $20,000 to educate a child here in Florida. If I
am reading the public disclosure correctly, the Hillsborough County School
District (Tampa) has 187,694 kids in the system and spends just a tad over
$1,084,892,000 to do so. That comes out to $5780 per child. About 35% of
that comes from local taxes with almost all the rest from the state.
