T&T: Krogen 42'

I'm in the market for a trawler, too. My brother and his wife have an '80s
vintage Krogen 42 that I've out on any number of times. They've had it for
several years and keep it in a covered marina in Anacortes, WA and take it up
towards Alaska via the inland passage every summer, and so far they have had
no issues, other than normal maintenance, and say that they're quite happy
with it, with their ownership costs over time having thus far remained within
the annual 10% rule of thumb. I know for a fact that they've had no problems
whatsoever with the hull or decks. So when I get to looking seriously, I'll
take a good hard look at some Krogens myself. Not to say that Krogen is what
I'll end up buying, I also want to check out Nordhavn and Defever, maybe
Selene as well, but theirs is a very nice boat and I think one could do a lot
worse.
FWIW,
