T&T: Admin Censures

I'm saddened by the departure of talented, outspoken people from the list.
I'm surprised at the posting by Bob. I'm hoping the admin people on the
Trawler List do not lose sight of what has made the list such a wonderful tool
and inspiration. That is the ability for us all to share information and
opinion freely.
There obviously is a point past which we should not go, personal attacks,
flaming, etc., but as far as I can tell, the list is not censored for
misinformation, outright lies, blowhard wordiness, repeatedly beating a dead horse, or
politically correct pap. There is always a fine line between too much
regulation and too little. Lately, that line appears to be becoming increasingly
blurred and hard to define.
I'm finding my enthusiam for the list is waning at a geometric pace. I
recommend that the admin process be disclosed so that the members of the list may
see the judgments involved in all censures...

" Are they so full of themselves that they believe all drivel of theirs
must be seen by as many people as possible? Are they so envious of
the volunteers who administer the List that they must draw attention
to themselves?
Inevitably, when a volunteer administrator or another subscriber
draws their attention to the rules and asks that they mind their
manners, they will throw a tantrum and stalk off the List. Later,
they will claim they were kicked off, excommunicated, censored,
whatever . . . anything to avoid having to admit they were wrong.
As your host, I feel an obligation to all subscribers, all 1,800 of
you, to provide you with the very best forum in trawlerdom. I am
fortunate, as you all are, that Bob McLeran and other volunteers
share in my vision for the List."
As a host I would never be so rude as to call a guest 'full of themselves'
or of writing 'drivel'.
Yes, Charles post was unnecessary but so to was the open slap down
administered by the list "host". I would expect an open apology to Charles
and the list.
There have been many quality posts by many members who occasionally went
astray. They were slapped down and left and now the list is WORSE off
without them. There was one member who was chastised for using the
enviro-nazi term. Perhaps the list admin prefers a different sort of
Nazi-ism?
