Has anyone tried to uses one of the memory sticks as an alternative to
conventional hard drives.
My desk top computer has a power saving feature wherby I can shut doewn the
hard drive after so many minutes of non activity.
A memory stick plugged into a USB port is seen as a USB drive so would this
not be a non-moving drive that can be left running without wear and tear.
Alternatively the RAM memory can be divided so a portion serves as a RAM
drive, again without need for a mechanical spinning drive. In idle mode the
spinning hard drive is a large power consumer - which in turn means more
heat produced in the power supply.
