T&T: An Exercise

Is there anyone out there who knows much about the old Army "T" boats?
Thinking if there are any left in serviceable condition, not all cobbled up
with home made mods 'n stuff, one might just make a great and interesting
cruiser. I remember living next to the "Hobbit," trawlerised by her owner,
but with all the original structures in place and in my mind in the way.
Most interested in plan view things and why the fiddley needed to be so
overwhelmingly in the way. The two or three modified T's available for sale
seem to retain that huge cavern with the tangle of wires, hoses, pipes and
the biggest damned muffler known to man, and for a four banger, slow turning
Buda, Buch, or whatever. Already "googled" to the 100th page with no
questions truly answered. I believe a guy with good mechanical and welding,
forming skills could do something really cool with one of these old girls.
Course seven feet of draft could limit one a bit, huh.
