I have a customer who wants to have done some major work on a 43' Krogen
Express he is buying in S. Florida this fall. The work includes re-engining
(replacing 2 Cat 3116 diesels), adding a bow-thruster, and installation of
dinghy davits. Can anyone recommend a yard that has done a good job for
them on major work of this kind, especially the re-engining? The area of
interest would include the lower third of Florida, from about Bradenton on
the W. Coast, around Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, up to as far north as Ft.
Pierce on the east coast. I will be serving as the project engineer on the
job, as well as doing some minor electrical work.
I know that Ft. Lauderdale has some excellent yards, but am concerned that
in general their prices are aimed at the gold-plater crowd. Ay help will be
appreciated.
