T&T: Icemaker recommendation

Tom,

I kept my Raritan on all the time and used it as a substitute freezer
with ice on top that I used to keep the drinks cold in the cooler.

Using my Kill-A-Watt meter, I found that it used so little and kept
the steaks frozen. It was not worth it for me to turn it on and off.
When I did need a lot of ice, it already being cold meant that I had
a bucket in less than 12 hours.

When I was away for two or more days, I filled the bucket with water,
and let it make a block. Then, the block went into the cooler and
lasted a long long time.

I never wanted from cold drinks, or ice.

I'm considering buying a 110 volt icemaker and building it into a new
cabinet to go between two easy chairs in the saloon. It will run on my
2500 watt inverter. My plan is to use only occasionally before a big
party
or when I have a cooler full of beer and soda. Run it for a few days,
dumping the ice into the cooler then turn it off. I'm looking at the
U-Line SP18 and Raritan Icer-Ette model 84. Anyone have any good or bad
experience with these units or have other advice I should consider
before
making the plunge?

Thanks,
