Don't forget that there are still some ships and tugs working daily with
direct reversing engines--think 30 seconds to a minute to go from foreward to
reverse.  One of the direct reversing tugs used to resupply and reman the
Boomers ran out of Sequim Harbor (John Wayne Marina)--and I know that comming
into the marina requires some serious planning--and I suspect that comming
along side a nucular sub in the Straits of San Juan de Fuca also requires a
serious degree of skill.
